Obituary of Pauline Jayne Lebsack

Pauline Jayne Lebsack (AKA Jayne OR PJ to relatives and friends) passed away at the age of 77 in Gresham, Oregon.
She was born in 1942 in Great Bend, KS. Her father Milton was on active duty in the US Navy while her mother Pauline Clare (Budde) Lebsack lived with her parents in a nearby Kansas farmhouse.

She is survived by younger siblings Milton (Jr), Linda, Mary Ellen (Mel), and James (Jim).

After World War Two, the family moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming, and then to Silver Springs, Maryland where she attended grade schools. The family moved to Denver in 1952. Her parents remained in the Denver area for the remainder of their lives.  She attended East High School and subsequently graduated along with the first graduating class at the New George Washington High School in 1961. She graduated from Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1965 with a degree in Spanish.

After a year of teaching in the Denver School System, she followed a girlfriend to Anchorage, Alaska. Although never marrying and living alone (usually with one or more cates), she always had a wide circle of friends.

Her passions included hiking, traveling, music appreciations, and a variety of social activities.

After briefly working for the Alaska State Troopers as a dispatcher, she began fulfilling a lifelong desire to travel while working for a travel tour company. This led eventually to a 25-year career with Alaska Airlines as a Ticket and Gate Attendant.

After 5 years in Anchorage and 5 years in Tucson, she retired in Portland 15 years later. During this period, she traveled extensively throughout the US, Central and South America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, and South Africa.

After retirement, she frequently hiked, attended concerts, and regular meetings with a quaker group and surrounded herself with a large group of friends.

She will be missed by her many relatives and friends.
