Obituary of Verne F Weber, Jr.
Verne F. Weber, Jr., born June 5, 1944, passed away on May 12, 2020. Born in Portland, Oregon to Anna and Verne Weber, Sr., he was known to his family as Smokey. Verne initially attended Benson High School, in 1960 when he and his family moved to Dallas, Oregon, he finished high school there. He traveled a lot during his tour with the US Navy from 1963-1967, serving aboard the destroyer USS Goodrich. Thanks to the G.I. Bill, Verne graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in accounting, and landed a job at Tektronix, where he spent many years, eventually managing the Accounts Payable department. Verne was very active physically; he enjoyed golf, skiing, tennis, the occasional kayak adventure, his Porsches, piano playing and Starbucks, and shared good times with his many friends and cousins. He is survived by his brother John, sisters Frances (Larry) Kamm, and Catherine (Bob) Bents, nieces DeAnna (Wayne) Bundy and Crystal Weber, and nephews Shawn (Stefani) Weber, Ken Zimmerman and Kory Zimmerman. He had a great sense of humor and a fine intelligence, and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank all his caregivers at the Portland Veterans Hospital and Community Living Center in Vancouver for taking care of him in his final days. No service is scheduled at this time.
