Julie Schnacky

Obituary of Julie Ann Schnacky

Julie Ann Schnacky (Foley), beloved wife, proud mother and grandmother, and loved friend, passed away at home on May 4th, 2020 surrounded by her family.

Julie was born July 16th, 1956 to Thomas and Orvetta Foley in Portland, OR where she lived her entire life. She was a graduate of Madison High School. She married her one, true love Dave Schnacky in 1977. They welcomed their first child, David, in 1978, followed by their daughter, Amy, in 1980. Julie was known as "Nana" by her two grandchildren, Gavin and Olivia.

Julie was known and loved by all she met. She had a sweet soul and a need to care for her family and friends. She cared lovingly for her father, after her mother passed away in 2002, until his death in 2019. Her family was her life, and her love for all showed.

She loved the holidays and was known for giving thoughtful gifts, and homemade candy to her family and neighbors. She could do crossword puzzles for hours, and she had a witty sense of humor. Julie's favorite place to visit was Cape Lookout State Park. She is known for her love of peanut M&M's, and her grandkids knew she would always have gum in her purse!

Julie never wanted anyone to worry or fuss over her, and she maintained that sentiment the whole time she was sick. Althrough her presence is already missed, her lasting influence will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Julie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dave; her son, David (Crystal); her daughter, Amy (Dave); and her two grandchildren, Gavin and Olivia. She also leaves behind her brothers, Tom (Linda) Foley and Lynn (Violey) Foley, and many nieces and nephews.

Julie will be interred at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Portland, OR.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, once the restrictions of the pandemic have been lifted.
