Jim passed away peacefully on May 9, 2020, in Salem, Oregon, with Phyllis by his side.
Born in Clarinda, Iowa, to Alma and Dale Wiseman, Jim moved to Oregon as a young boy settling in the Oregon City, Oregon, area. Jim graduated from Oregon City High School in 1961. This is where he met the love of his life, Phyllis. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Social Justice/Humanities.
Jim and Phyllis loved to travel in their RV to the Oregon Coast and across the country meeting new friends wherever they went, with many excursions to Europe. Jim had many Public Service careers throughout his life beginning with the City of Portland as a Portland Police Officer, Private Security Consultant, Teacher/Mentor at Clackamas Community College Public Safety Department, and Transportation Manager at Salem Transit.
Jim loved and adored his family. He is survived by his wife Phyllis of 59 years, daughters Christina Suenaga and Jillian Wiseman-Bald (Joachim Bald), son Eric Wiseman (Jana Wiseman), and six grandchildren (Brandon, Allison, Maxwell, Eliot, Simon, and Liberty).
Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Serenity Hospice in Salem, especially Melissa, Kathy, Stan, and Chaplain Terry, for their support and assistance.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Private Celebration of Life Service to be held on a later date.
