Obituary of Christian Svingen
Robert “Christian” Svingen, a life-long resident of Portland OR, died unexpectedly on April 22, 2020 at the age of 35 from a heart condition.
Christian is survived by his mother, Fay Svingen, his father, Scott Svingen, and his sister, Hailey Svingen of Portland, OR and sister, Heather Parker of Woodbridge, VA.
Christian was born in Kellogg, Idaho on June 22, 1984 and quickly grew into an energetic little boy who had a big heart for all those around him. His sense of humor will not be forgotten as he often liked to share materials that would bring a smile to your face, especially his favorite comic strip, Calvin and Hobbs. After graduating from Rex Putnam High School in 2003, he followed his love of cooking by working in various restaurants, often working at multiple places at once. That passion was enjoyed by those he loved, cooking and grilling for friends and family as often as possible, and sharing of new food discoveries. When he wasn’t in the kitchen, he spent much of his free time riding his motorcycle and enjoying the outdoors. Spend a few minutes with Christian and you will understand how the outdoors brought joy to his life. He often dreamed about living in a cabin in the woods where he could cook by campfire and spend the days admiring the beauty of nature around him. Next to the outdoors, family was what he valued the most, especially his niece and nephew as he loved being the “cool” uncle. Not a day passed where his family didn’t know how much he loved them. He left such an imprint on so many hearts, he will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Christian loved spending time camping around Mt. Hood and we would like to celebrate his life in the very place that brought him so much joy. Due to the current COVID-19 circumstances we are going to make these arrangements for a future date.
