Obituary of Ray F Fosberg II

On Thursday, April 23rd, 2020, Ray “Rick” Fosberg II, died in his home in Gladstone, Oregon, one day shy of his 70th birthday.

Rick was born on April 24th, 1950 in Tillamook, Oregon, to Ray and Mildred (Matheson) Fosberg.  He grew up in Twin Rocks Oregon before moving to West Linn, Oregon.  He graduated from West Linn High School 1968.  He then joined the Army and served in Viet Nam as a payroll clerk in Phu Bai.  He came back from Viet Nam and married his high school sweetheart, Marie Carol Edwell in 1970.  He received his Associates Degree from Portland Community College in 1974.  After losing his desire to continue with school, he started his job at Southern Pacific Railroad as a clerk.  Rick and Marie had two children, a son Jason and a daughter Amy.  They eventually divorced, but stayed close throughout the rest of his life.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from George Fox in 1993, while still working full time in his position at Southern Pacific Railroad then eventually at Union Pacific.  He retired from the railroad in 2010.  He celebrated his retirement by taking his family to Twin Rocks for the weekend at the spot next door to his childhood house.

Rick had a passion for collecting things.  From coins, to cards, to license plates and badges from all over he found great satisfaction in owning those things.  He enjoyed going to the beach and also collecting golf balls during his lunch break while working at the railroad.  In his retirement, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. 

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Ray, his mother, Mildred and two brothers, Mike and John. His is survived by his two children, Jason and Amy, and four grandchildren, Braydon, Amy Lynn, Lucas and Ashley.  A funeral service will be held at a future date.  Condolences or donations may be sent to 5765 K St. West Linn, OR 97068.
