Richard Beaman

Obituary of Richard Dick Beaman

Dick Beaman, age 89, of Vancouver, Wash., passed away in his home April 8, 2020. He was born in Oklahoma June 30, 1930, and was raised in California. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served our country during the Korean War.  He attended college at San Jose State University.  Upon graduation, he began a long career spanning over three decades with Fireman’s Fund Insurance, first starting as a claims adjuster and working his way to vice president at his retirement.  He met and married the beautiful Marjorie Egan and raised four children in the Portland area.  A man whose life was kissed with tragedy, he lost his first wife to cancer and his youngest son to a tragic car accident.  He was blessed to marry Carol Falk and they enjoyed 18 wonderful years together.  A relationship full of life, they enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  He is survived by his wife, Carol; three children, Laurie Popp (Marty), Karen Pederson (Scott), and Greg Beaman; three stepchildren, Peter Falk, Todd Falk and Pamela Galvin; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He adored his family and was a man full of great wisdom. He was extremely loved, admired and respected for the husband, dad, grandpa and friend he was. Dick was also a man of integrity, kindness, dedication and loyalty.  A life marked by a great love for golf, he was a member for over 30 years at Columbia Edgewater Country Club, and a member at Royal Oaks Country Club for 18 years.  He cherished the times of playing golf and cards with the many friends he made over the years. A celebration of life will be held in the summer when a date is set. Please make any donations in his memory to the American Red Cross or a charity of your choice.  “The world he left is in chaos, but the world is a better place because he passed through it.”
