Ralph Scholz

Obituary of Ralph R Scholz

Ralph R. Scholz died suddenly at his Oregon City family farm on April 5, 2020 with his dedicated wife of 27 years, Melanie Pederson-Scholz by his side.

A lifelong Oregon resident, Ralph was born on July 3, 1956 in Oregon City to Gerhard and Elvira [Stebner] Scholz.

Ralph is survived by wife Melanie, daughters Stacy and Brietta and siblings Bernd Scholz [Destiny], Heidi Johansen and nephews Derrick Scholz and Jordan Scholz. Melanie's parents, Ed and Leann Pederson were like a second mother and father to Ralph. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvira and Gerhard.

Ralph loved anything with an engine and could fix everything mechanical. He loved his 1990 Corvette and was also a fan of classic rock and shared many of his passions with his daughters. Stacy has fond memories of tinkering with her dad in the garage, pulling tools out of his red Snap-On tool chest and riding around in his blue Chevy pickup. Ralph taught her there was a tool for everything in life. Brietta is thankful to her dad for bestowing two important life skills. Thanks to Ralph, Brietta knows how to ride a quad and most importantly, she understands how to get back up and “walk it off” in all aspects of life.

Being a father came naturally to Ralph and he enjoyed spending time with his daughters, playing with them when they were young and cheering them on in sports and other activities when they were older. He passed his strong work ethic on to both of them.

After their home became an empty nest, he and Melanie enjoyed traveling. They spent many vacations visiting Mickey and Friends at Disney World and Disneyland. Another favorite pastime was cruising. Ralph loved to sit on the balcony and watch the world float by.

A long time dedicated employee of Oregon Wilbert Casket Company, and then AJ Distribution, which later became Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions, Ralph was a salesman for the Oregon and SW Washington region. He took great pride in his job and was always willing to go the extra mile for his accounts.

Ralph was a tremendous father and husband and everyone who knew him will miss him greatly. Family and friends will remember Ralph for his creativity, quick wit, compassion, strong work ethic, willingness to help, and adventurous spirit.

A celebration of life will happen at a future date.
