Obituary of Gale Grant Nicholson

Gale Grant Nicholson of Hillsboro, Oregon passed away at EmpRes Hillsboro Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the age of 77. Gale was born on July 21, 1942, in Merrill, Wisconsin to his parents James and Edna Nicholson. At 17, he began working with a traveling carnival where he met Carol and they were married for 20 years. He went on to be a very skilled welder and got his diploma from Jackson High Adult Education in 1972. He moved to California in 1998 and then resided in Oregon from 2007 to 2020. He enjoyed building and racing stock cars, reading, watching documentaries and educational television, and riding across the country on motorcycles to the Sturgis Bike Rally. He was an avid gun collector and a massive practical joker. He is survived by his ex-wife Carol Nicholson; children Carrie (John) Sharrer, Lisa (Christopher) Swenson, and James Nicholson; his grandchildren Jade Sharrer, Sierra (Toby) Pelfrey, and Cassie Swenson; his siblings Linda (Bill) Grinstead and Kay Zeaman; and his nephews Paul Grinstead, Nathan Grinstead, and Jason Zeaman. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Edna Nicholson. His wishes were to donate his body to science, but cremation has taken place. At this time, there is no memorial service because of the underlying circumstances. We will notify of a celebration of his life occurring in the future.
