Obituary of Ruby Soulek

Ruby Lucille Soulek, born April 17, 1920, died peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2020 after a lengthy stay in convalescent care. She was the third of seven children born to father Jacob Ambrose Bishop and mother Anna Ellen Lee Bishop in Avon Park Florida. After graduating high school and secretarial college in Florida, she moved to Annapolis MD, for work. There she met her future husband, Dale Soulek, whom she married in 1947 and remained married to until his passing in February, 2005. Lucy spent most of her adulthood as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker until moving into the workforce again after their children were grown and on their own. She and Dale spent their lives active in whichever southern Baptist church they were members of, as teachers, choir members, community outreach volunteers, and social gathering organizers. She is survived by her two children, Andrew and Alice, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, younger sister Odean, younger brother Walt, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her ashes will remain with her son until such time as a memorial service can be held for family members, where they will be interred next to those of her husband in Olympia Washington.
