Obituary of Kenneth A. Kindred
Kenneth Andrew Kindred was born in Salem Oregon on July 26, 1949, to Spike and Sylvia Kindred. He passed away due to complications from diabetes, in his home on March 5, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Ken grew up and attended school in Mill City graduating from Santiam High School with his class of 1967. He attended OCE for a short time before working for Champion International at Idanha until its closure in the 1980s. Ken worked for several years at A to Z Rental before ending his working career at the United States Postal Service.
Ken was dedicated to his family and was a loving father and husband. Ken married his wife Kathy on June 26, 1971, they had two children, Korey (Susie Cox) and Kristy Martin (Lanny), three grandchildren, Katelynn, Jillian and Kaleb. Ken had two brothers, Matt and Marlin. He is survived by many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews who were an important part of his life.
Ken loved sports and children. He coached and umpired men’s baseball and slow pitch soft ball prior to having his children. He coached Korey in baseball and football. He was an active member of the Mill City Gates Recreation Association, serving on the board for many years. Ken volunteered at the Canyon Senior Center and served on the Board of Directors.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the Mill City Presbyterian Church, 236 SW Broadway St, at 2:00.
