Obituary of Keith Patrick Summers

Keith was born in Chicago, IL to Louis Summers and Genevieve Kneen. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and proudly served until being honorably discharged in 1972. He married the love of his life Gloria Jean Herl on May 23, 1970 in Colorado Springs, CO. There marriage produced two children.

Keith proudly worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Security, CO until he retired in August of 2014. He truly loved his job and the many co-workers that became his friends. He also loved the residents on his daily route. Many of these families also become friends. Keith always loved sharing stories about his family and his work.

Keith was a loving husband to Gloria for almost 50 years. He was a doting father and grandfather. He could always be heard sharing stories about his family. His sense of humor was like no other. He could always find a way to bring laughter to any situation. He could tell a fishing story better than anyone. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandsons. He also was a major foodie and loved to eat!

Keith is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Summers,  daughter Kristine Marie Cruz of Milwaukie, OR,  son Kevin Lee Summers (Amber Lyn Summers), of Wilsonville, OR.
Keith has 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Over the years Keith was called Grandpa and Dad by many people and he had a very special place in his heart for each and every one of them.

Keith’s final wishes were to be cremated and not to have any formal services. He wanted his family and friends to gather with their loved ones, have a meal and share memories of him.
