Gretchen Malmberg Manley

Obituary of Gretchen Mae Malmberg Manley

Gretchen Mae Malmberg Manley, a long time resident of the Portland Metro area died Saturday, the 22nd of February 2020 at her home in Portland.

Born July 7th 1936 in Oregon  She worked for various restaurants while raising and providing for her family. Gretchen went on to own and manage a busy

restaurant in the popular Hawthorn area of Portland. She embraced the saying "Dare To Be Different" ending various local news interviews over the

years with that saying.

Gretchen was an imaginative and excellent cook. Over the years she loved going to restaurants and critiquing their offerings-all in fun

of course. She was always available for her family whether financial or for  moral support and am sure that her good character will surely be missed.

On a special note, not many were aware of Gretchen's artistic abilities but she was talented in water color as well as oil painting.

She was survived by her sister Arden King, Brother in Law-Larry King, sons David Malmberg and Brian Baker as well as Keith Baker,

and daughters Darcey Kemp, and April Cramer. In her later years she enjoyed time spent with her great grand children.

As Gretchen requested, there will not be a memorial service and her ashes shall be released on an Oregon coast beach.
