Obituary of Lilian Yashumiishi

Lilian Yayeko Yasumiishi, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2020, in Portland, Oregon. Born in Honolulu Hawaii to Juichi and Oko Tsushima, Lilian was one of 11 siblings.
Lilian was a 1951 graduate of the University of Hawaii and moved to Pittsburg Pennsylvania where she worked as a dietician at the Shady Side Hospital. Lilian married her childhood sweetheart, Calvin Yasumiishi, in 1954 upon his return from military service in Germany.
Although Lilian and her husband Calvin, who preceded her in death, considered Hawaii to be their home, their journey led them to a life in the Pacific Northwest. Lilian was a preschool teacher, in Ontario, Oregon and Portland, Oregon. In her spare time, Lilian enjoyed outdoor activities including gardening, fishing, and hiking. Lilian is survived by her four children; Kip Yasumiishi of Vancouver, WA, Kim Case of Portland, OR, Joy Yasumiishi of Juneau, AK, and Jay Yasumiishi of Mililani, HI; her two grandchildren; Kyle Yasumiishi of Seattle, WA, and Niki Yasumiishi of Vancouver, WA; sisters Francis Mori, Bessie Ishida, Roberta Takata, Shirley Nakachi, and brother Richard Tsushima, all of Honolulu, HI.
A private Service will be held in Honolulu, HI.
