Obituary of Gary Lawson

Gary was born in Portland, Oregon to Gale and Golda Lawson (Brizendine) on October 28, 1942. He was a Scout and Participated in many school activities. He Played two musical instruments. He Married his Tigard High School Sweetheart, Fay Johnston. They Had Three Children, Robert, Gari Linn and Michael. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ron. At the age of 17 he went to work for Frahler Electric, became a Union Electrician (Local 48) and worked for him until his retirement at age 62. He received several letters of appreciation from customers for his work. Gary was well respected by his co-workers. He was apart of the group that worked to establish the city of Durham. Gary Married his wife Sandra in 1988 and established a home in Tualatin. He became a very important member of her family and was always generous with his time and talents. He built his dream woodworking and metal shop. It was always organized and clean. After his retirement he bought a John Deere tractor from Sandra's uncle in Idaho, and later on a Farmall. He restored them to perfection, and did two more. Gary and son Mike (with wife Chris) enjoyed driving them in various parades. He never missed the Steam- Up in Brook, and was a member of the Two-Cylinder Club. Gary was an avid hunter and his Big Horn Sheep is in the record book. He never tired of talking about hunting, Tractors, Oregon history or jet boating on the Snake River. Gary is survived by his wife Sandra, three children, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous cousins. There will be a gathering to celebrate Gary's Life at the Marquis Community Center in Tualatin, Oregon on February 8th at 11:00 am. Anyone who knew Gary or his family are welcome. A private family burial will be at a later date. Crown Memorial in Tualatin has performed the cremation.
