Obituary of Gordon Lawrence Forbes
Gordon Lawrence Forbes Jr. (Larry) born in Red Bank, New Jersey January 3, 1952 died at his home in Tigard, Oregon on January 23, 2020 of health complications.
Larry was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family. Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Larry graduated from Memphis State University where he was an officer in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He retired from Nike after 20 years and enjoyed golfing, watching sports, and trips to the beach. Friends and family will remember Larry’s kindness to others and good sense of humor.
Larry is survived by his wife, Janet Forbes, daughter Angela Hardy, son-in-law Spencer Hardy, and grandson Owen Hardy, along with his sisters Beth Peyton, Cindy Forbes, and Alyce King. Larry was preceded in death by his father Gordon Forbes Sr. and mother Margaret Forbes.
Celebrations of life will be held in Portland, Oregon and Memphis, Tennessee early summer. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Larry’s name to the American Diabetes Association (http://www.diabetes.org) or your favorite charity.
