Obituary of Amy M. Jurney

Amy M. Jurney March 19, 1920 – February 3, 2010 Amy M. Jurney, 89, passed away on February 3, 2010 at her home in Lake Oswego. Amy was born on March 19, 1920 to Clara and August Rennegarbe. At the age of 3, Amy and her family moved to California. Amy was raised in Los Angeles and attended Roosevelt High School. She later worked as a sales clerk at Bullock’s before marrying Thomas L. Jurney in 1939. Thomas and Amy had 4 children, Peter, Christopher, Susan and Candace. The family would vacation to Yosemite National Park annually, and after Thomas passed away in 1959, Amy continued their family legacy and took her family on their yearly trips to Yosemite. Around 1958, Amy began working as a school secretary, a job which she continued until her retirement in 1982. In 1983, she decided to move to Lake Oswego to be near three of her children and grandchildren. Amy was an accomplished seamstress and she loved to read and work on crossword puzzles. She was active in the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center and attended the Triumphant King Lutheran Church. Amy is survived by her son Peter and his wife Gloria of Lake Oswego, daughters Susan Josephson of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Candace Upthegrove of Lake Oswego, brother Louis Rennegarbe, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas and son, Christopher. A memorial service will be held on February 13th, 2010 at 2 pm at the Lake Oswego United Methodist Church, 1855 Southshore Blvd., Lake Oswego.
