Alma Louise Tucker was born in Sweetwater, Nebraska on March 18, 1913. Her family moved to Oregon in the early 1920’s. Her Father, Einar Andersen, immigrated from Norway, and her Mother Elise Andersen, immigrated from Denmark. They were proud of their heritage. Alma earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Mt. Angel College in 1961 and continued her studies at Portland State University School of Education Reading and Language Arts Program in 1971. She was a well-loved elementary school teacher at Silver Crest School in Silverton, the Sodaville School in Sodaville, and the Abernathy Grade School in Portland, Oregon. She loved teaching children and they loved her as a teacher. She loved to play piano and helping children learn to play piano. She enjoyed sewing and took much pleasure in the trips she got to take. It is said that she had a wonderful sense of humor as well. Alma is survived by daughter Arlene E. Zagone and son-in-law Frank Zagone of Concord, California, daughter Gayle al-Kaisy of Portland, Oregon. Her grandson Dr. Robin L. Zagone and wife Megan in Arcata, California, grandaaughter Lisa B. O’Mullane and husband Declan of Mallow, Ireland, granddaughter Romy G. al-Kaisy of Portland, Oregon, and great grandchildren Jackson Zagone, Simon Zagone and Allison O’Mullane, and niece Judy C. Martin. She preceded by brothers Elven and Virgil Andersen.
