Obituary of Katherine Joan Falkenstein

Kate was born in Portland, Oregon to parents John and Mary Pappas on April 15, 1936. John came over by boat from Greece at a young age and Kate was proud of her Greek heritage. She grew up in Portland, Oregon where she attended catholic school and kept in close contact through the years with Sister Valerie and the other nuns with letters and visits. Kate later went on to become a real estate agent and lived at the Oregon Coast for a number of years where she practiced real estate and was a business woman, owning several businesses. She loved to sit and watch the ocean and the boats come and go at Barview. She lived at the coast until moving back to Portland in 2004. She loved animals, gardening, country music and the beach. She was involved with True Hearts Ministries and Heaven Bound Christian Center. Kate passed away in her home in SE Portland with family by her side on April 22, 2012. She leaves behind her children; Cheryl Temple, Larry Temple, Mike Temple, Alice Temple and Kathy Read; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Donations may be made in her name to the Oregon Humane Society.
