Obituary of James David Carrillo

Jim was born in Omaha, Nebraska to James & Marcia (Ramsey) Carrillo, Sr., though he was primarily raised in Kansas City, Missouri. Jim lived in Chicago, IL for more than 10 years where he worked as a Journeyman Adjuster in the envelope business. Within that industry he was a strong union organizer; he became president of his local. Throughout his life he never stopped championing the cause of worker’s rights. Jim was a voracious reader and an animated storyteller and he loved his Chicago Cubs and Bears, riding his bicycle, and last, but certainly not least, beer. He is survived by his mother, Marcia K. La Rose of Portland, brothers, Mark C. Carrillo of Portland, Larry A. Carrillo (Alison) of Redmond, OR, M. Dean La Rose, Jr. (Joy) of Palm Desert, CA, sister, Bernadette Carrillo-Lewis (Mike) of Vancouver, WA, daughter, Rachel Carrillo-Cox (Steve) and granddaughters, Olivia and Sophia of Ogden, Utah. He was a beloved uncle to 21 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 1981 and his brother, Stephen Paul Carrillo in 2006. Memorial contributions in his name should be given to the American Diabetes Association. A memorial gathering is in the planning stages; please come back and check for the date, time and place.
