Oh, Mr. Girod...a strong man of deep faith, with twinkling eyes, keen intelligence, and kind wisdom; your sense of mischievous, wholesome fun was utterly irresistable. We lost you this week, but you found glory and unfathomable peace. How can I adequately describe your influence on my life? I don't think there are words anywhere on this earth.

Stan Girod was one of my favorite cousins. My family spent my 10th birthday with his family in Berne,Indiana and I remember he gave me a harmonica and taught me to play "Turkey in the Straw"

God Speed, Mr. Girod! You were my 4th grade teacher (53-54) at Lakewood Elem. My classmates & I were thrilled with your athletic abilities - being able to hold yourself in a horizontal position from the monkey-bars! I, later, became a babysitter for your children. (My parents owned "Carl's Mkt" across from the school.) Thank you for showing us what a man of integrity really is! Love to your family! I am in Bend, so will not be able to attend - I SO wish I could!!

Whenever asked who my favorie teacher was it was Stan. He was my 4th grade teacher who believed in a shy girl who wasn't doing well in her studies. His patience and constant encouragement helped me to discover my real potential in the classroom. I will always remember his kind support.

For us, Stan was a person we immediately felt comfortable with when we first met him. He was easy to talk with about a broad range of topics. Our condolences to Barb and all of the family.

Stan, You were that rock solid administrator who supervised the PE teachers when I was first hired at LO. You gave the support we needed and were always encouraging. I am quite proud to have known you and worked with you. Your integrity is model for all of us. Thanks for what you gave to me and so many others. You will be missed.
