Obituary of Harold Herbert Seaman

Herb was born and raised in Lake Oswego, Oregon to Herbert and Bessie Seaman, who owned “Herb’s Place” tavern and “The Shake Shop” where little Herb worked after school, making ice cream until graduating from West Linn High School. In December, 1942 he joined the Navy, serving in the South Pacific, flying The TBM/TBF Avenger on missions off the carrier “San Jacinto” until the end of the war. Herb finished his duty in March of 1946. After returning home to Oregon he married Donna, and together they raised four sons in Depoe Bay. In June, 1989 Herb married Betty and they lived in Sherwood. He never strayed far from his home state, and passed away in Newberg, OR on January 12, 2012. Herb is survived by his wife Betty, and by his sons Michael and Jeffery. He is further survived by his sister Francis, daughter-in-law Judy, and grandchildren Cassie, Melissa and Jeremy. Other survivors include his step-children Greg, Candace, John and Joseph, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons Gregory and Phillip. A Memorial with full Military Honors will be performed at Willamette National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m., Monday, January 30th, 2012. Later this year his ashes will be set free on the waves of the Pacific Ocean, out of the port at Depoe Bay. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Tualatin.
