Obituary of Charlotte Amanda Stava

Charlotte passed away at 89 in her daughter's home. She was born in Valley City, North Dakota, to Vera Mae McCleary Wagle and Alexander Wagle. She was the youngest and last survivor of 4 children. Her journey in life took her from North Dakota to Nampa, Idaho where she married Tony Gilbert Stava on August 29, 1940 in Payette, Idaho. She spent a short time in Boston during WWII to follow her husband in the Navy. After their daughter was born in 1946 they moved from Idaho to Long Beach, California where their son was born in 1950. In 1957 they moved to Cave Junction, Oregon where they bought the Pines Motel and she was active in many organizations including former President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 70, active in the Illinois Valley Grange and a den mother for the Cub Scouts for many years. After the death of her husband in 1964 she moved back to Long Beach, California where she cared for her parents and retired from the US Postal Service July 28, 1984. Upon retirement, she moved to Albany, Oregon and spent her final 11 years with her daughter and son in Portland, Oregon. She was a hard worker and devoted mother. She was a beautiful lady with light blue eyes, indomitable spirit, and a wonderful smile. All who knew her loved her sense of humor and caring ways. Her hobbies and interests included crocheting doilies and afghans, gardening, house plants, cooking, cross word puzzles, watching sports, and world news. Survivors include her son, Donald Gilbert Stava, daughter, Glenda Faye (Stava) Kennedy-Lazott and son-in-law, Rickie Dean Lazott, in Portland, Oregon, 3 granddaughters, Ginger Faye (Kennedy) Howard and husband Neil, Tina Renae Kennedy US Army 1SG, and Christine Janette (Stava) Hines and husband Jamie, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
