Obituary of James Lee Gill
James Lee “Jim” Gill passed away January 11th, 2012 in Tualatin, Oregon at the age of 59. Born August 6th, 1952 in Portland, OR, he was raised in Tigard, and graduated from Tigard High School in 1970. On January 15th, 1972 he and Barbara Elaine Burklund exchanged wedding vows, and went on to raise one daughter, Vicki. Jim worked for twenty-nine years in the Portland Shipyards, the last seven of which for Kwiet Bridge and Marine. He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Gill, and by his daughter, Vicki (Jeff) Hanson. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Abigail, Julia and Joshua Hanson. He is further survived by his brothers Ed (Janet) Gill of Tigard, OR, and Wade Gill of Newberg, OR, and his sister Ellen (Jay) Weiler of Dundee, OR. He leaves behind Steve Gordon, his golf, hunting & fishing buddy, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to their friend Cheryl Munro. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lorriane Gill.
A Memorial Service for Jim will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20th, 2012 at Grace Baptist Church, 1619 E. Second St., Newberg, Oregon 97132. A light lunch will follow the service. Please make memorial contributions to Grace Baptist Church.
