Mike, 58, was born in Portland, OR on Sept. 21, 1953. He passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving wife on Jan. 3, 2012 after being diagnosed 7 months ago with Pancreatic Cancer.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 37 years, Laurie; children, Caryn (Jeff) Barney, Molly (Mike) Thompson and Nick (Alicia) Bales; his sister, Merilee Bales; and the pride and joy of his life, his six grandchildren.
Mike was a warm, generous and brave man who loved to spend time with his family at the beach, barbecuing, golfing and camping. He lived everyday with a deep passion and appreciation for life and was always helping others. Mike and his sister own Prier Pipe Plumbing in Salem, OR.A funeral mass will be held on Sat., Jan. 7th, 11am at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 7007 SW 46th Ave., Portland, OR 97219. Donations may be made to the Cure for Pancreatic Cancer Lustgarten Foundation www.lustgarten.org or the St. Vincent DePaul c/o St. Cyril Parish, Wilsonville, OR.
