Obituary of James Stafford Moznette
Born January 16th 1941, in Albany, Georgia, James (Jim) Stafford Moznette was the third son of George and Esther Moznette. His two older brothers George Jr. and Roger died in WWII. He graduated in 1959 from Albany high school and attended his first year of college at the University of Georgia before transferring and completing his schooling at the University of Oregon where he got his Bachelors in Business Administration followed by a Masters in Journalism. Residing in western Oregon and Washington, Jim worked 27 years for Pacific Northwest Bell (U.S. West) resigning as the Assistant Vice President of Public Relations followed by 3 years in management for the Seattle Art Museum before retiring in 1994. He would resettle in Tigard, OR.
After a valiant fight against neuro-endocrine cancer, CHF, and COPD, Jim went home to be with the Lord at 3:15am New Year’s Eve 2011. He is survived by his wife of 47 years and co-Oregon Duck alumni, Sharin and six adopted children Missy 44, Melanie 42, Mitch 40, Matthew 38, Meri 30, and Meagan 25. He is known for his incredible intelligence in business, economics, finance and education. Jim enjoyed golf, history, Oregon Duck football and flexing his savvy quick wit resulting in the most original and memorable “one-liners” you will ever hear. We can only imagine what his first words entering Heaven were.
A celebration of his wonderful life and his promotion to Glory is planned for Jan. 28 at 3pm at Countryside Community Church in Sherwood, Oregon.
Jim/Stafford highly valued education. A school for children who would otherwise have no education will be built in his memory in India. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Open Arms, 13986 S.W. Hillshire Dr, Tigard, OR 97223, for the Moznette Memorial School.
Jim, Husband, Dad, Mentor, you are loved, you are missed, and because of your faith in Christ, we will see you again.
