Obituary of Betty Mae DeFord

Betty Mae DeFord was born to Emma Katherine and George Preston Spencer in La Center, Washington. She married her sweatheart, George Carney DeFord from Richfield, Washington. Together they raised three wonderful boys: George Dale, Robert James, and Douglas Scott in Portland, Oregon. Betty Mae worked as the bookkeeper at the Portland Public School District for many years. After retiring she loved to spend time at the beach with her black lab, Maggie and attend all her grandkids activities. Her winks and laughter will be greatly missed. “Here’s tooja here’s toeja, wouldn’t have seen ya, wouldn’t have known ya.”There will be a memorial service held at First Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 7th at 12:30pm, 1816 NW Irving Street, Portland, Oregon. Following is a Celebration of Life gathering at the Red Lion Quay at 3:00pm, 100 Columbia Street, Vancouver, Washington. Donations may be made in her name to the South Pacific County Humane Society in Long Beach, Washington or the Alzheimer’s Association.
