Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Fisher

Dorothy Elizabeth Fisher(Dugan) died peacefully on Sunday, December 18,2011. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Jack Fisher in 1984.Dot as she was known by her many friends was the beloved Mother of five, grandmother of eight and great grandmother to 10 ½. She moved from Port St. Lucie, Florida to Portland, Oregon to be surrounded by her ten great grandchildren, who loved her and brought her great joy. Dot, at 95, was recently chosen by Royal Rosarian judges to be Queen of Queens of all the Marquis. She was raised in New York City with seven siblings, married Jack in 1938, settled in New Jersey where they raised their family in Pompton Lakes. After living in Hingham, Massachusetts for ten years, they retired to Port St. Lucie, Florida in 1980. Dot was a wonderful swimmer and a founding member of the Spanish Lakes Water Ballet Team, she also was a member of the Choir at Spanish Lakes. Dot was responsible for running many social functions and fund raising charity events in Spanish Lakes, her favorite being a fashion show which she started and ran for many years. She was an active member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, where she ran many events to raise funds for the church and also worked weekly in the thrift shop. Dorothy had an enthusiasm for life and believed that every day should be lived to the fullest. She had an unending faith in God and practiced her religion with great love and pride. She will be missed by all who loved her, especially her children who always knew her love to be endless. Her children are Jack and his wife Anne, Barbara Wiederecht and her husband George, Dick and his wife Jane, Kathy Rambusch and her husband Rob, and Elizabeth Fisher. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dot’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org. A memorial mass will be held at 11AM Saturday January 14th at the Madeleine Church in NE Portland.
