Obituary of Glenn Herbert Mickelson

Glenn was born in Portland, OR on August 9th, 1926 to Judith and Herbert Mickelson. After graduating high school, Glenn joined the Marines where he saw action in the Pacific. Like many of the young veterans of WWII Glenn used the GI Bill to enter Lewis and Clark College. Upon graduation in 1949 Glenn married Florence Peterson, and in 1950 started a career with General Motors. They moved many times during Glenn’s very successful career. In 1965 Glenn started an Oldsmobile dealership with Marlin Sandvic in Kennewick, WA.While in Kennewick Glenn became active in the business community and contributed much to its success. In 1982 Glenn married Florence Swails, and upon retirement they moved to Vancouver, WA. Glenn is survived by his wife Florence of Lake Oswego, and by his daughters Nancy Phillips of Eugene, OR and Mindy Ensign of Spokane, WA and by his son Jim Mickelson of Yakima, WA. He is further survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and by his step-son Kurt Swails of Lake Oswego and step-daughter Kim Sisul, of Portland. He is also survived by his brother Bob Mickelson of Portland. Glenn was preceded in death by his son Tom Mickelson, who died in 1992. Glenn developed Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases late in life, and spent his last two years in the loving care of Angela and Ninel Gorgan in their Lake Oswego Adult Foster Care Home. The family is extremely grateful to them. No services are planned. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Tualatin.
