Obituary of Hope Elizabeth Stalker
Hope Elizabeth Stalker of Portland, Oregon passed away from complications due to advanced dementia on Monday, December 19th. She was 86. She was married to Donald Wayne Stalker. Hope grew up in Hermiston with her mother & stepfather, Mildred & Smiley Bean.
Hope was best known as a teacher. After graduating from the music conservatory at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, she taught choir in a Tigard elementary school. She also taught English at St. Stephens Catholic School and later taught for the Christian Brothers and served as the English Department Chair at LaSalle High School in Milwaukie Oregon.
Classical music was a lifetime love affair for Hope. She played and taught violin and piano, performing with small chamber orchestras and cherishing the grand piano in her living room.
She is survived by her daughter Diane Stalker-Hood of Cambria, CA and son David Stalker, of Bend Oregon.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
