Obituary of Helen Virginia Ries

Helen Virginia Ries, born September 26th, 1920 in Lenox, Iowa, died peacefully December 18th, 2011 in Newberg, Oregon. She was 91 years old. She grew up in Iowa with her five sisters and graduated from Osceola High School. On June 16th, 1947 Helen married Ronald E. Ries. She worked as a school teacher and in accounting before becoming a full time homemaker, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, reading, playing bridge, walking on the beach and most of all spending time with family and friends. In addition to her children's schools, Brownies and church she volunteered with a variety of other organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband Ron Ries. Helen is survived by her children Sue (Liese) Ries of Seattle, Cindy (Gary) Bidiman of Sherwood, JoAnne (Gary) Heintz of Sherwood, and Bob Ries of West Linn. She treasured her many grandchildren: Jessica Bidiman of Hillsboro, Jennifer Bidiman of West Linn, Sarah(Dustin) Lindsey of Tualatin, Nick Ries of West Linn, Madison Ries of Portland, Quinn Anex-Ries of Seattle, and Hiroko (Edel) Peraza of Sherwood. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter Aika Peraza. A special thank you to Providence Hospital Newberg for Helen's loving care and support to the family.
