Obituary of Gregory Vernon Snyder

Gregory Vernon Snyder was born May 16th, 1972 in Portland, Oregon. His parents, Penny & Skip were thrilled to have a beautiful son to complete their family. He was also well received by his older sister, Jenna. They had a natural bond and friendship from the start. Greg quickly became the family’s entertainment. At the age of 2 he sang and used a tennis racket as a guitar. He said unique and clever things to everyone, grabbing their attention and making them laugh. Greg always stood out in a crowd. From the start, Greg was a daredevil and thrill-seeker. At the age of 5, his Uncles built him ramps so he could jump his bike over his Tonka trucks. He also loved to swim, and of course jumped off the highest bridge or rock possible into the water. Greg was a natural performer, he could tell a story or a joke in a way that could make it so funny your face would hurt from laughing so much. Greg had a passion for music; he loved to sing and dance and would always be the first one to get karaoke started. His clever observations and quick wit, along with having a big heart, are some to the main reasons why people were so attracted to Greg. As an adult, Greg had ups and downs. Following the devastating loss of his Father, Skip, in 1999, Greg was blessed with the birth of his only daughter, Alexandra, in May 2000. He loved her dearly. He appreciated every moment spent with her and was anticipating many future Father/Daughter experiences. Greg had many accomplishments that he was very proud of. As a young man he learned the masonry craft from his Stepfather, mark. Greg respected Mark and appreciated their shared sense of humor. Greg also had the opportunity to work alongside his father, Skip, at his father’s tool and equipment rental business. He felt very proud to work with his dad. He also completed a baking program, earning his Baking Certification. He loved to cook and bake and had an appreciation for good food. He also found a hidden talent for drawing, and left us with beautiful artwork. Greg also met the love of his life, and with her he experienced true unconditional love. Greg lived his life on the edge. We lost him on December 10, 2011. His light will be forever missed by his family and good friends. His spirit, laugh, and sparkle in his eyes will forever be in our minds and hearts. He was also survived by his mother; Penny, his sister; Jenna, daughter; Alexandra, uncles; Brian and Tom, cousins; Shawn, Shelby, Kevin, Jordan, and Miranda, half siblings; Aaron and Rachel, and nieces; Lindsey and Brooklyn. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on January 7th, 2012 at 1 pm at 1501 North Hayden Island Drive, Janzen Beach, OR at the clubhouse.
