Mr. Bixel I feel extremely blessed to have had you as a teacher. Your genuine enthusiasm, love of teaching, sense of humor and compassion for your students made you a truly gifted teacher. I learned from you in more ways than one. From you I learned that a that life is to short not to enjoy it, support can come in many forms, and help will always be there if you ask for it. You were a bright light during my time at Mt.Tabor and I thank you for being someone who was daring enough to be excellent at his job.

I thought I wouldn't cry, but I did, Mr. Bixel. Because even though I know I didn't have you as a core teacher in sixth grade, or even as an elective teacher in seventh grade, that short quarter of Technology in sixth grade was one of the best elective classes I've ever had. And I can assure you, it wasn't because of Mavis Beacon. Your stories could make anyone laugh, and your sense of humor in general was a bright light in the dreary school days. It will be so, so sorely missed, and so will you.

Mr. Bixel, you were one of my favorite teachers. Your idea of a good lesson was watching a Twilight Zone and making us guess the ending, you wrote in our yearbooks every year that you hoped we didn't get run over by steamrollers, and at outdoor school you let us throw M&Ms at our classmates in the dark. You were funny, supportive, and believed in us. So now I just want to say goodbye, and thank you.

I have to say that going on the D.C. was one of the best experiences of my life. Traveling with 20 teenagers and having to look after them must be very difficult, but you did it dozens of times. I learned so much out of that trip, and that you really have to appreciate the things around you. You were an amazing person, could lighten the mood in any room, and could make even the shyest little 6th grader laugh. I wish the best for your friends and family, knowing that you left a large pair of shoes to fill.

Mr. Bixel was more inspirational than any other teacher has been in my daughter's life. She loved him second to me, her dad. The kids loved him because he was not afraid to teach what he knew to be more true and factual than the state sponsored propaganda he openly refuted when appropriate. My daughter was truly inspired by him and would talk about him all the time. He helped inspire her to continue to seek information by looking for it and not accepting everything we are told. In other words, Mr. Bixel taught the most important thing: Critical thinking. He will be very sorely missed within the current mis-educational environment. Good-bye Mr. Bixel.

I knew Mike as "Thor". My deepest sympathies to the family. Thor played a small but very important part in my life. When I attended Outdoor School in the 6th grade, at Colton ODS, I was extremely homesick. I cried all night, and most of the day. The only person that reached me was Thor. He made me laugh, he made me feel loved, he helped me adjust, he started me on my life journey. I came back to ODS 4 years later to be a JC- and Thor was there. A different camp, 4 years later. I went on to work on staff, work at many camps, get my teaching degree and help many children- like Thor helped me. You will be missed.

Thank you everyone for your support. It was the worst thing that happened in my life. To all his students, he loved teaching, he loved his students, he loved every person. To everyone else , all we can really do is say thank you i really wish i could thank you all separately, but that would be hard. Now every day at 5:20 P.M. I try to say a prayer usually being the time he would come home from work. At the bus stop, as i now walk to school, i look in the spot his BMW would be and remember him simply HATING Kesha or Ke$ha. Saying that it is almost the year anniversary, i still remember remember waking up at around 5:15 A.M. on November 11th 2011 and it is hard. we always said he had nine lives like a cat. I, separately, thought he was purely invincible. Once again, to anyone who sees this, coming to either pay respects, or just to visit, we thank you, I thank you, though i don't know the difference. I cannot tell you how your support helped us, Thank you.
