Obituary of Robert Coe Conklin
November 20, 1925 – April 14, 2011 Salem - Robert, 85, passed away April 14th, he was born Nov. 25th 1925 in Miles City, Montana to Melvin and Frances Conklin. He moved to Oregon at the age of three and was raised in Toledo. The family later moved to Salem where he attended North Salem High School. During World War II Bob worked in the Portland shipyards and then joined the Army Air Corps. After the war he worked as a civilian in post-war Japan during reconstruction. Bob was a materials testing engineer for the state highway department until his retirement in 1987. He is survived by his daughters, April Conklin – Henderlite and Maggie Conklin Sapaugh, and many grandchildren who will all miss him. The family would like to thank the staff of Willamette Valley Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care, who cared for Bob his final days. Memorial contributions may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice.
