Obituary of Theodore Cusic

Theodore Allen Cusic “Ted” was born in Portland, Oregon to Ruth Fawkes and Ira Cusic. He is survived by his daughter Holly Catlin and her four children of Chesapeake, VA and daughter Anabel Cusic of Woodland, WA. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Schonberger-Cusic, three sons, Michael, Patrick and Timothy. He was a member of the Armed Forces and served in the 25th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean war. He was very proud of his service to his country – always wearing his Armed Services ball cap proudly displaying his Korean Veteran service. He loved anything with the American Eagle or the American Flag, and had several items displayed throughout his home showcasing his love for his country.He worked as a custodian for the North Beach School District in Ocean City, Washington, for many years and was a longtime volunteer firefighter and EMT with Fire District 7 in Copalis Beach, Washington. In the 1970’s he taught himself the art of wood carving and won many awards. While living on the coast of Washington, Ted would pick up pieces of driftwood and carve them into remarkable works of art.In the 1990’s he developed a love for carousel horses and carved three beautiful full-size Carousel Horses, which he displayed at various events and won awards for. He was known for his sense of humor, love of dancing, and his sweet tooth – always having sweets to share with others. He was an avid Seahawks fan and wouldn’t miss a game! Ted spent many years residing in Ocean City, WA, before returning to Vancouver, WA where he resided for the past 30 years.He loved spending his time with his loving wife Virginia, until her passing in May 2018. Ted's urn will be placed in the wall at Willamette National Cemetery. His marker will be completed and ready by mid May 2019. Below is a map showing where he will be placed at the cemetery.
