Obituary of John Phillip Gulley

John Phillip Gulley was born in Hillsboro, Oregon on June 28, 1947. He passed away April 11th, 2019 at the Veterans Hospital in Portland, Oregon. He grew up in the '50s and '60s in the small town (then) of Beaverton, Oregon. The times were great for everyone. He graduated from Beaverton High School in June of 1965. He worked construction for a time and then in December 1965 he enlisted in the U. S. Army. After basic at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, he was sent to Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi and was trained as an air traffic controller. He was then sent to Viet Nam. After Nam, his life became defined by what he had experienced there. He was never able to cope with life again. He became 100% service connected disabled, and lived out his life with many physical and mental issues. He never married. His passing has surely given him peace. He is survived by a brother, Jim and sister in law Pam of Milwaukie, and several nieces and nephews. Phil will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery on April 29th, 2019 at 11:00 A.M.
