Charlotte Ann Blum was born in Tillamook, Oregon, the daughter of the late Floyd Maynard Blum and the late Nina Pauline Blum. She was raised on her parent’s family farm in Sandlake, Oregon, where she attended primary school through eighth grade. She went on to finish her Junior year in high school at Nestucca High in Cloverdale, Oregon. She was raised with her four siblings who have predeceased her: Shirley Reding, Earl Blum, Maynard Blum, Forrest Blum.
In 1952, she was United in Marriage, to Harold “Wayne” Scheese, who divorced and predeceased her. They lived as husband and wife in Tillamook and Yamhill Counties, having four children: Donald Wayne Scheese of Oregon City; Twin daughters: Catherine Lee Stevens of Oregon City and Cynthia Scheese, who predeceased her; and Dixie Ann Fraser of Oregon City.
In April, 1962, she United in Marriage to Roger Dean McCommon, who predeceased her. Following their marriage they resided in the Portland area, then later moved to California and back to Portland, then to Rangely, Colorado. She returned to reside with her daughter in Oregon City in the year 2001 through November, 2021. She passed away at home after nine months of hospice care.
She worked as a grocery clerk and then became a meat wrapper for Bazar and other employers in Portland for two decades to help support her family. Years later became a stay at home grandmother who helped care for her grandchildren. She was a devoted caregiver and also was a volunteer for Love, Inc. and an Ambassador for Medicare health plans. She was a current member of the Living Water Community Fellowship in Portland. Among her special interests, she enjoyed crocheting, boating, family meals and gatherings, helping in the kitchen at church, women’s and family ministries, reading and learning, journaling, prayer and the study of scripture, and hours of solitaire and other games on her computer, as well as work.
She is survived by her three children: Donald, Catherine and Dixie and three step children: Cynthia Marie Dominguez of Portland, OR; Cheryl Housely of LaBarge, WY; Roger Dean McCommon Jr. of West Linn, OR; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and potluck will be held at Living Water Community Fellowship, 10670 SE 52nd Avenue, Milwaukie, OR. 97222, at 12:00pm, January 16, 2022, following the 10:30-11:30am church service; to be officiated by Pastor Aaron Tebeck. Her final resting place will be Oretown Cemetery, Cloverdale, OR, tentatively planned for summer of 2022.
