Years ago (in 1989) the founders of Crown Cremation Service, which was the forerunner to Crown Memorial Centers, opened for business in a tiny office in downtown Milwaukie, Oregon. Jim and Flora Pryor realized a need for affordable, yet professional care of the deceased. By elimination the “expensive” funeral home building, cremation, burial, funerals and memorials can be less costly.
The Pryors pursued that vision until Crown developed a well-respected place in the forefront of the cremation and funeral profession. Although Jim and Flora have retired, their “great idea” thrives and the solid foundation they built, of compassion and respect, continues to hold Crown proud and above other providers.
Today, Crown Memorial Center of Milwaukie operates out of a spacious facility on McLoughlin Boulevard, and serves more families than any other cremation and funeral provider in Clackamas County. Families have unlimited use of the private conference rooms and full access to an array of funeral and memorial planning options. They can select from a nice assortment of affordably priced caskets, urns, memorial jewelry, grave markers and all other memorial products.
Many families find comfort in holding a visitation or small memorial service in our intimate chapel, which holds about 30 guests. Others find a less formal gathering with coffee and cookies is more appropriate. At Crown, we want the families that request our services to feel comfortable and we’ll work hard to make that happen.
